Friendly staff at the security and upper management level. I had great experience resolving my immigration related questions with this RI field office over the years. People who work here care for the safety of our country, and care for the well-being of those who are on their immigration journey in Rhode Island. Thank you for everything! 🙏

At 27, I had brains, beauty, and drive — but for 15 years, my son and I have faced roadblocks, corruption, and endless red tape. I poured my savings and heart into careers that led nowhere, while opportunities slipped past us. I lost home, health, and family in the process, trapped behind a wall of smoke and mirrors. We came here last week for the interview to finalize my 11-year-old grandson's citizenship application. Everyone was so patient and helpful--the guards, Officer Connor, the Field Office Director--they could not have been any kinder. My grandson was already excited about becoming an American, but the people who work at this field office made the day that much more special. What was otherwise a bureaucratic formality became a cherished, lifelong memory!

Officer Conner was amazing, had a great personality and made us really comfortable which is great since it’s a stressful situation. Would highly recommend talking to him if you could choose who to interview with. Could not have been better.

What to Expect at Your Appointment

USCIS field offices handle in-person appointments including green card interviews, naturalization interviews and oath ceremonies, and requests for evidence. Here's what to know:

Arrive at least 30 minutes early. Bring your appointment notice (Form I-797C) and a valid government-issued photo ID.
You'll go through security screening at the entrance — metal detectors and bag checks. Leave prohibited items in your car.
Cell phones are permitted but must remain on silent throughout your visit.
Wait times vary from 10 minutes to over an hour. Bring water and something to read.
Bring all original documents referenced in your application — the officer may ask to review them.
